2032 Cultural Legacies Project

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games offer Australia a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to elevate cultural legacies that go far beyond stadiums, medals or infrastructure.

The Games will provide a global stage for Queensland to showcase its creativity, diversity and authenticity—but the true measure of success will be how these opportunities embed long-term social, cultural and economic benefits for communities across the state.

In July 2025, the Creative Brisbane Collab. brought together more than 140 diverse voices to shape a cultural legacies vision. Brisbane’s corporate sector worked hand-in-hand with CEOs and Artistic Directors from Brisbane’s largest arts companies as well as arts administrators, individual artists, producers and directors to consider six legacy themes; First Nations creatives, creatives with disability, young creatives, venues and infrastructure, global showcasing, and Queensland’s night-time economy.

The result is this report that identifies Seven Principles for Cultural Legacy Success.

Together, they provide a roadmap for ensuring cultural initiatives are co-designed with communities, integrated with infrastructure, authentically Queensland, and measured for real impact.
